About Us

I & E Smith Services is a family run business specialising in water divining, location and installation of private water supplies from source to tap across Scotland. We can install most types of water system required for household, commercial, industrial, campsites, agricultural farms and estates, including the installation of any water treatment, followed by the servicing, repair and maintenance of your complete private water supply. 

The roots of I & E Smith Services were planted away back in 1961 where Ian gained first-hand experience working for his father in the family business A D Smith Water & Drainage Contractors, Ian then moved on and spent 30+ years fully employed with the North East Scotland Water Board, starting out as squad foreman to becoming the senior water mains distribution inspector for the Deeside area. Ian was awarded an M.B.E. in 2003 for his services to the water industry

I & E Smith Services was formed in 2004 by Ian Smith MBE and his late wife, Edith, following Ian’s retirement from the Water Board.  In keeping with family history, Ian’s son Edward became fully employed in the business in 2006, working alongside his father gaining first-hand experience and knowledge in the water and drainage industry.  The business continued to grow with the employment of another full time employee and several self-employed workmen all becoming part of the team, including Edward’s wife Faye as full time office administrator.
